Mahoning Food Access Initiative Program
Plant It You is the lead organization that houses the Mahoning Food Access Initiative Program. This program works directly with The Healthy Community Partnership’s Healthy Food Retail Action Team as a regional effort with Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership. The Mahoning Food Access Initiative works with local community stores, community gardens, Ohio farm associations and local farms.
Gardening 101
A farm and garden outreach land stewardship program that provides hands-on basics to market gardening information to all in Mahoning County. This program was held at Jubilee Gardens, Polka Pasture Farm and Lady Buggs Pharm.
MYCAP Curbside Connection
A mobile grocery store that focuses on seniors in the Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull County areas. This mobile unit is a mini market and a social service intake unit. The Mahoning Food Access Initiative was able to supply their mobile unit with one round of fresh produce to be distributed at the 2023 SOS event.
The Seed Library
Located at the McGuffey Centre on the East Side of Youngstown. This is a stand-alone card catalog cabinet that holds over 400 packs of seeds that are free and open to the public.
Community Stores
Community Stores are rooted in the idea that the people, the business and the land/neighborhood can work together to provide healthier food options that ultimately support healthy communities.

Beginning Farmer Program with Central State University
Held in Trumbull county, this program has been a great resource for Mahoning Valley gardeners and residents at large who are committed to having a Market Garden, Urban Farm and or Community Garden. Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership has led a joint partnership for both Mahoning and Trumbull farmers and gardeners. This partnership has educated and provided direct hands-on experience along with providing USDA, Cleveland High Tunnel and local funding resources. Farmers within that program were able to grow and provide local fresh produce to Trumbull Community stores to be sold.
